Welcome To The Dance Haven’s Class Descriptions Page.  All classes are graded by age and ability.  Each class is designed to teach techniques in a positive way to allow the learning process to be fun, yet fulfilling through constructive teaching methods.  Not sure, which class is the right one?  Contact us and we will help you make the decision that will allow for an exciting and rewarding dance class.




Competitive Dance Classes &  Reperatory Dance Theater

Acro Dance Competition Team Ages 8 & Up
- The Acro Dance Team combines ballet jazz dance, traditional artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and stunt work. It requires balance, power, and flexibility. Students learn the fundamentals of contortion and tumbling, and combining these skills with partnering and group stunts.  Students are required to participate in Tumbling and Choreography Class. This class has a strick attendance policy, competes in one or two local competition and performs in the annual recital.

Lyrical & Jazz Competition Ages 8-12– This class is designed to teach the students the importance of working together as a team.  Students develop even greater friendships, and respect for their dance peers while having lots of fun learning their competition routine.  The class emphasizes on technique and performance.  Students will compete in a style of dance that compliments the whole team.  Students are required to also take one of the Ballet/Tap/Jazz classes offered during the week. We will enter in one or two competitions in the season, and they will perform their competition dance in our annual recital.  Students may also have the opportunity to dance in any special events held by the studio.

Tap Competition Team - Ages 11-14 - This competition class is designed for the tap competitor who wishes to perform as a team in local competitoins and special performances.  Class focus is on choreography and working together as a team.  Students are required to take an addional tap class offered.  We will enter in one or two competitions in the season, and they will perform their competition dance in our annual recital.  Students may also have the opportunity to dance in any special events held by the studio.



Advanced Hip Hop Competition Team - Ages -13-18 - This is an advanced Hip Hop class for students who have taken the prior classes in the Hip Hop program, and have been promoted by their teacher.  This class uses complex rhythms in connection with advanced body alignment to explore popping, locking, and tricks involved in basic break dancing.  Students will be able to perform a variety of hip hop styles from flow to pop.  Choreography lessons vary each class to prepare the student for the fast paced world of Hip Hop Dance. They will compete in local competitions and in our annual recital.  Strict Attendance is enforced.

Tap Advanced Competition Team- Ages 14-18 – This tap class will incorporate a variation of iadvanced tap technique and rhythms through barre and center floor exercises.  Students should have 6-8 years of a solid tap foundation and demonstrate intermediate and advanced skills to participate in this class.  Students will learn more terminology and challanging combinations and will compete in local competition and perform in our annual recital.  

Teen Muscial Theater/ Competition Class - Ages 12-18 - A popular dance class that focuses on classical, modern, and contemporary musical theater jazz dance.  This class is expressive and allows students to roll play.  Students need to have at least two years of training in ballet or jazz and are required to take two additional subjects in addition to this class.  Students may be required to take an exta Ballet Class by instructor.  Students will perform in our annual production scene in our recital which is usually based on a musical.  Students will also enter in one or two competitions per season.  Strict attendance is enforced.





Reperatory Dance Theater

RDT I/ Competition
Ages 11-14- This class is for beginner/intermediate students who want to further their dance education. This program is designed to prepare students in the technical and performance skills necessary to compete for post-secondary study and career development.  This class prepare them for upper levels of RDT and College Prep.  The Program requires a high level of commitment from the student and parent.  Special outside performances will be mandatory.  Students participating in RDT I are required to take a minimum of two additional subjects a week, one including Ballet.  Students are required to take flex class.  Students can take more than one ballet class at no additional cost.  They will enter in local competitions and perform an additional lyrical, jazz, musical comedy in the annual recital as well as our Opening Number.Note:  Anyone interested in taking  , RDT I, II & III must attend the placement class which will be held on Monday September 12th 3:30-6:00 PM.

RDT II/ Competition Ages 12-18 - This class is for intermediate students who want to further their dance education. This program is designed to prepare students in the technical and performance skills necessary to compete for post-secondary study and career development.  This class prepare them for our advanced RDT team and College Prep.  The Program requires a high level of commitment from the student and parent.  Special outside performances will be mandatory.  Students participating in RDT II are required to take a minimum of two additional subjects a week, one including Ballet.  Students can take a second ballet class at no additional cost.  Students are also required to take Flex class.  They will enter in local competitions and perform in an additional lyrical, jazz and musical comedy numbers in the annual recital as well as our Opening Number. Note:  Anyone interested in taking  RDT I, II & III  must attend the placement class which will be held on Monday September 12th 3:30-6:00 PM.




RDT III/ Competition Ages 14-18 - This class is for the advanced students who want to further their dance education. This program is designed to prepare students in the technical and performance skills necessary to compete for post-secondary study and career development.  Please note that the College Prep. Program requires a high level of commitment from the student and parent.  Special outside performances will be mandatory.  Students participating in RDT III are required to take a minimum of two additional subjects a week, Advanced Ballet and  Flex class each week.  Students are required to  participate in the Opening Number class that starts in October.  They will enter in local competitions and perform in three additional numbers in the annual recital.   Note:  Students must have been in RDT II and demonstrate advanced technique prior to auditions before being considered for this level.  All RDT I, II & III Students must audition on September 12th 3:30-6:00 PM.
