Children Grades 4th to Pre-Teen

Ballet/Tap Beginner Intermediate
Ages 9-12 – This combination class is for students who have been exposed to ballet and is a continuation of those basic ballet concepts learned at the pre-ballet level.  They will learn more classical ballet terminology at the barre, center floor, and across the floor combinations.  As the students improve their technique, the class presents more difficulty in the execution of exercises and performance skills. These classes are taught at a somewhat accelerated level to prepare students for more advanced ballet classes.  The tap section of this class is designed to incorporate more musicality and rhythm technique through more advanced barre exercises, center floor combinations and rhythm patterns across the floor.  Students will perform two dances in the annual recital.

Jazz/Hip Hop Beginner Intermediate Ages 9-12 – This class focuses on traditional and current jazz/modern disciplines in technique, vocabulary, terminology, stretch and strength training. These classes will be wrapped up with street style and hip hop movement to pop chart hits or hip/hop music (all age appropriate). This class is a great transitional class for students to learn the fundamentals of classic jazz concepts and apply them to funky combinations.  This is a high energy, fun filled class.  Students will perform one dance in the annual recital.

Acro Dance Competition Team Ages 8 & Up - The Acro Dance Team combines jazz dance, traditional artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and stunt work. It requires balance, power, and flexibility. Students learn the fundamentals of contortion and tumbling, and combining these skills with partnering and group stunts. This class has a strick attendance policy, competes in one local competition and performs in the annual recital.

Competition – Ages 8-12 - For students who demonstrate technical proficiency and knowledge of elements learned in class. Students are further introduced to more advanced combinations and exercises designed to improve accuracy, speed and the ability to link movements taught in class to performance choreography.  The program requires a higher level of commitment than a weekly class.  Students are required to take a minimum of two additional subjects or a Ballet/Tap Jazz Class.  During the season they are taught core values of leadership, teamwork, and respect for peer dancers.  They will learn an advanced routine to compete in local competitions and will perform in our annual recital.
