Each class is designed to teach techniques in a positive way to allow the learning process to be fun, yet fulfilling through constructive teaching methods. Not sure, which class is the right one? Children Grades 4th to Pre-Teen
Ballet/Tap/Jazz Beginner Intermediate Ages 9-12 This combination class is for students who have been exposed to ballet and is a continuation of those basic ballet concepts learned at the pre-ballet level. They will learn more classical ballet terminology at the barre, center floor, and across the floor combinations. As the students improve their technique, the class presents more difficulty in the execution of exercises and performance skills. These classes are taught at a somewhat accelerated level to prepare students for more advanced ballet classes. The jazz section which is built on the foundations of ballet, will include technichal training with center floor isolations, turns and combinations across the floor. The tap section of this class is designed to incorporate more musicality and rhythm technique through more advanced barre exercises, center floor combinations and rhythm patterns across the floor. Students will perform three dances in the annual recital.
HIP HOP Ages 9-12 & 12-18 These classes will be wrapped up with street style and hip hop movement to pop chart hits or hip/hop music (all age appropriate). This class is a great transitional class for students to learn coordination, hip hop concepts and apply them to funky combinations. This is a high energy, fun filled class. Students will perform one dance in the annual recital.
Beginner Pre-Teen/Teen Lyrical Ages 9-13 - A hybrid of ballet, jazz and modern dance, Lyrical is one of the most popular styles of dance for young women, in particular. It is more emotive than jazz, less codified than ballet and pulls movement vocabulary from modern dance. Lyrical incorporates a musical flow of rhythms and disciplinary dance technique. Students are required to take ballet class to enroll. Students will learn combinations that are set to slower pop songs and ballads. The class focuses on strength and flexibility techniques in center and across the floor combinations. Students will perform one number in the annual recital.
Acro Dance Competition Team Ages 9 & Up - The Acro Dance Team combines ballet jazz dance, traditional artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and stunt work. It requires balance, power, and flexibility. Students learn the fundamentals of contortion and tumbling, and combining these skills with partnering and group stunts. Students are required to participate in Tumbling and Choreography Class. This class has a strick attendance policy, competes in one or two local competitions, attend convention performs in the annual recital and is teacher recommended .
Lyrical & Jazz Competition Ages 8-12 This class is also teacher recommended designed to teach the students the importance of working together as a team. Students develop even greater friendships, and respect for their dance peers while having lots of fun learning their competition routine. The class emphasizes on technique and performance. Students will compete in a style of dance that compliments the whole team. Students are required to also take one of the Ballet/Tap/Jazz classes offered during the week. We will enter in one or two competitions in the season, attend a convention and they will perform their competition dances in our annual recital. Students may also have the opportunity to dance in any special events held by the studio.
